Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) Test
GMW3286 corrosion test is a neutral salt spray test that is conducted in the same manner as ASTM B117 testing. GMW3286 testing is conducted by atomizing a neutral salt solution continuously with a corrosion test chamber temperature of 35°C. Chamber operation and the test procedure are based off ISO 9227. To conduct GMW3286 testing, it is required to have a suitable water supply that meets ISO 9227 sec.3.1. The water will be used to mix the 5% salt solution and supply pure water to the humidification tower. The 5% salt solution is made using food grade salt that meets ISO 9227 standard. The pH of the collected atomized solution during the corrosion testing shall be 6.5 – 7.2 with a specific gravity of 1.025 – 1.040. The collections shall be 1mL – 2mL per hour using funnels with an area of 80 cm². Collections rates and pH readings of the collected solution is done ever 24 hours.
